Seepage and Drainage - 7 PDH

Email
This course covers surface erosion, and analysis of flow quantity and groundwater pressures associated with underseepage. Requirements are given for methods of drainage and pressure relief. Control of soil erosion must be considered in all new construction projects. Seepage pressures are of primary importance in stability analysis and in foundation design and construction. Frequently, drawdown of groundwater is necessary for construction. In other situations, pressure relief must be incorporated in temporary and permanent structures. For erosion analysis, the surface water flow characteristics, soil type, and slope are needed. For analysis of major seepage problems, determine permeability and piezometric levels by field observations.

  • Learn how to estimate seepage quantities for different soil conditions;

  • Learn how to calculate seepage forces exerted on soils subject to seepage conditions;

  • Learn about the conditions that lead to “boiling” seepage and mitigation techniques to minimize or eliminate its consequences;

  • Learn the cutoff techniques for seepage control;

  • Learn how to design and apply drainage blankets;

  • Learn about the different types of reservoir linings and their applicability;

  • Learn about “piping” failures and subsurface erosion; and

  • Learn about wellpoint systems.

Intended Audience

This course is intended for civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, geologists and other design and construction professionals wanting an introduction to methods and techniques for seepage and drainage control for foundations of structures, and earth structures such as dams, reservoirs and levees.

Benefit for Attendee

This course will give engineers and other design and construction professionals an introduction to tools that can be used to evaluate seepage and drainage conditions and design for their mitigation and control.

Thank you for your quick response.  I can take unlimited courses for up to one year?  That means I can apply some of the courses for this year’s  deadline, and take additional courses after that toward my next period deadline!

Thank you. I finish a test when I am in a flight for a business trip so when I log in to your website, I can enter all answers.
